La Paz

La Paz is a seaside town that remains surprisingly untouched by tourism. While so many of Mexico’s coastal resort towns have relinquished their charm, La Paz has retained its authentic “Old Baja” feel and small-town appeal. Lively and charming, historic yet contemporary, La Paz has become a much desired location to live or retire. The city offers plenty of interest things to do, like exceptional fishing, scuba diving and golf, and plenty of colorful shops, markets, restaurants, museums, galleries and theaters.

La Paz

The Gateway to the Sea of Cortez

La Paz is truly known as the gateway to the Sea of Cortez, which is unique in several ways. It receives more sunlight than any other sea (320-plus days of sunshine per year), it has extreme depths of greater than 2 miles, and it contains three distinct currents. The result is an abundance of microscopic plankton – the staple diet of much marine life. Thus, in this environmentally-preserved ecosystem, the wealth of marine wildlife is unequalled anywhere in the northern hemisphere.

With a population of 300,000 (est.), La Paz ,Mexico is the ideal place for a second home or retirement property in Mexico. While large enough to give you all the conveniences of a modern city, La Paz has retained its small-town charm and authenticity. It’s no wonder that Money Magazine, CNN and The New York Times have called La Paz the number one place to retire in Mexico and the world. Almost all visitors or retirees end up in La Paz due to the tranquility, safety, and vibrant traditional Mexican culture that only this city can offer.
